Demolition has started at Tyndall AFB, Florida

Balfour Beatty Communities (formerly GMH Military Housing) has begun demolishing wood manor on Sabre Dr. By project's end, Tyndall will have a total of 813 homes - some new and some renovated. I recently took a walk over to the demolished buildings that once were wood manor housing and I took several pictures of the project. As a resident of a soon to be demolished house, I was not to happy to find several items destroyed that were otherwise "suppose to be" reused in newer homes. These items are being charged to the housing residents before they are allowed to move out and into a new home. Blinds are at the top of this list and one of my pet peeves. They are charging residents $95 per set if they are damaged in any way.... and by damaged I mean one slat bent or even a few (things that can be repaired of course). The "landlords" have explained that this fee is important as they will be used in other homes and if they are damaged it is the residents responsibility to replace. Carpeting isn't an issue as it will not be reused. Hmmmm, well this is what I found among the rubble.......

Notice the blinds discarded with in the structure? I wonder how they will look in those new houses now?? You probably thought that was the only thing I found wrong... Nope! This picture is a two-parter.... It is very important that you look closely to the upper left hand corner of the image. I didn't notice it myself until I returned home and resized the photos.

In case you missed it.. I have enhanced the corner of the image to show what I found underneath a few layers of structure..... Yup that's right.... an American Flag has been disrespected on a government instillation. The sad thing is this could have been prevented. It was probably on display on the front of the house. It wasn't removed and now it lies in a pile of trash to be discarded! What do you do in a situation such as this? Do you call your squadron and see if they can help? Do you call the housing personnel and ask for access to remove and dispose of the flag in a proper way? .... You tell me...What would YOU do?...........
