Tyndall Craft Show takes shape...

Sarah (mrsdstahl) and myself are working hard at getting our local craft show off the ground. Back in Feb I was searching on etsy and came across Sarah's shop. She was so nice when I convo'd to say hi and that I lived right next to her (stalker..lol). We soon began talking about events in our area and realized that Tyndall doesn't offer a great deal of Arts and Craft shows... (don't get me wrong Panama City is full of great opportunities but Tyndall is its own community)Anywho, We decided to brainstorm about putting together a craft show for the base and then drum up some plans of how to go about doing such an event.

It didn't take long and we were soon on the road to our goals. Our first set back came when our event application was sent back for changes. In order to have any event on a military installation or its property you must get approval from different command leaders as well as a final say for the installation commander. With our first set back we were told that our event could only used by military affiliated personal...Simply put we had to change our vendor search to members affiliated to the Tyndall Air Base and any other military affiliated person, family member and such. This task has been much harder then one would think. How do you tell the community you are putting on event if you can't advertise until it is approved...lol. Okay so step one completed and we are back on track and awaiting approval.

Second bump in the road came when our application was lost. This was quickly resolved and we were very excited to see that we had the support of so many. Months went by and we had not heard word about the show. Sarah emailed our application contact and she began investigating the whereabouts of our decision. A few questions had arose and we were again on a hold. This time around it was handled very quickly and we just received word yesterday that one more signature remain and then our approval letter should be back soon. Not a moment to soon. Our craft show begins in 17 days... no time like the present to start promoting like crazy. =)

The BX (Base Exchange) has allowed us to print fliers and have them stuffed in their checkout lines. 325th Services will be publishing our event info on three electronic marques, and Sarah has been talking to a local radio personality about a quick promo slot .. for free! Not to shabby for two Air Force housewives. I am so happy to get this far.... I will blog more as the event comes to a close.. If you want more information about our craft show or how to become a vendor please visit.
http://tyndallcraftshow.blogspot.com/ You can download our application and learn about the organization we are benefiting (Air Force Aid Society) and of course... Learn about all the fun we are having!

Stay tuned...........

YAY!! I'm sending Sarah some business cards soon - I can't wait to hear all about it. I wish I could be there but you know, with an ocean and everything between us, it's a little difficult to get there. :) Thanks for including us.
