To the Boneyard

I was doing a search online trying to locate the nose art to my father's airplane (pictured above). I came across this news story that brought a tear to my eye.

1/27/2009 - After years of service, a B-52H Stratofortress, tail number 61-0027, leaves Minot AFB on its last flight here Jan. 21. The B-52 is destined for retirement at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., more commonly known as the Boneyard.

The Airplane and its nose art are important to me. This plane is the namesake of my father's call sign 'vulture'. It was named for him after his 21+ years of service. It has been almost 11 years since he retired but that plane will always be in my heart. I am one step closer to an enhanced image of the vulture.... till then I know where to find her =)
